Since the start of the Russia Ukraine conflict, the EU has attempted to contain Russia through various sanctions and punitive measures. However, due to the EU s reliance on Russian gas, these anti Moscow sanctions have caused more harms to EU citizens than to Russians. As EU governments struggle to find alternatives to Russian oil, masses are taking to the streets in protest. Thousands of Czechs demonstrated in Prague s central square on Sunday, calling on the government to quit as they protested over high inflation and energy prices. Police did not give estimates of the size of the protest named Czechia against poverty . The protest, like a similar one in March, was organized by non parliamentary political party PRO, which has criticized the centre right government of Prime Minister Petr Fiala for its handling of the energy crisis that has hit Europe since the start of the Ukraine war more than a year ago, Reuters reported. In recent days, Paris also witnessed massive demonstrations against Emannuel Macron s policies. Mass protests broke out in the country in recent weeks in response to Macron’s controversial decision to push a bill through Parliament increasing the retirement age by two years to 64.
